James has performed all over North America, from New York to L.A., Newfoundland to his home town of Whitehorse. From festival to small club, Murdoch is equally at home on stage either solo, duo or with his full band. He writes beautifully crafted songs. A subtle blend of roots wrapped in pop sensibility, highlighted by his powerful vocal talent and vivid storytelling.
Jimmy has played in venues all across our country. He is best known as a solo artist with his acoustic guitar but he also performs with a band. His passion brings the people to their feet, puts smiles on their faces and for a moment we all share in the magic of the music.
Influenced by the likes of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, John Prine and Fred Eaglesmith, just to name a few, Jimmy’s songs depict real life situations.
Bringing about a musical equivalent to the liberation and soul-satisfying power of this ages-old philosophy, her intensely personal music is steeped in soul-fed folk intertwined with a vast array of styles varying from outright rock to ancient mantras.
