Browse through the listings and create your own experience of Olde Towne Okotoks.  Make one stop or many starting from 10am to 9pm.  Most events are free!  First Saturdays are presented by the Okotoks Arts Council.

Drum circle on the deck: drums & instruction

Rotary Performing Art Center

Art Show & Sale, Crafts, free movie!
Show & Sale by artists Okotoks Arts Gallery members from 10am-4pm in the Community Room (downstairs).  On the main level FREE screening of WALL-E: Join the Town of Okotoks Conservation Educators as they host a FREE movie matinee featuring Wall-E from 1pm-3pm. Drop in with the family and kids as there will be free popcorn, crafts and a draw!  3 Elma Street.

Getting Anxious: Margaret Witschl
Although not the actual cut and paste process of traditional collage, Witschl’s paintings use a collage approach to mix stereotypically anxiety-making images such as sharp objects, warning signs and falling objects with content from her personal storehouse of worrisome events, bad dreams and general nervousness.  10am-5pm, admission by donation,  53 North Railway Street (403.938.3204)

Bistro Provence
Wine, Dine and Beautiful Music: Drown your cares in beautiful music of local artist Nick Mercier and his classical acoustic guitar while enjoying  a wonderful meal and finish with a sweet selection of Chinook Mead from Chinook Honey.  Free for dining guests, reservations recommended.  6:30  - 8:30 pm .  52 North Railway St (403.938.2224) 

Rotary Performing Art Center

The Classical Guitar Society of Calgary: A showcase of four local talented guitar musicians, Matt Beaubien, Davis Guillemaud, Katie Gavelin and Xavier Davidson. Tickets at the door by donation, 8pm, 3 Elma St.

ARTISTS: would you like to do a demonstration or have an art show and sale at an alternative venue like a boutique, restaurant, or café in Olde Towne Okotoks?  On the FIRST SATURDAY of each month Olde Towne venues would like to host you! 

THE PROCESS:

1. Please send the following to firstsaturdayokotoks@gmail.com
   1. Name, email, phone number, website (if you have)
   2. 5-10 samples of your work (jpg images less than 500 kb)
   3. Short letter of intent – let us know what you would like to do (eg. art demo, show with an opening reception) and if you have a place in mind
   4. We will in turn try to match you with a café or boutique.  From there, it is between you and the merchant as to how to arrange things (eg. set up details, if there is to be a commission, etc)

MUSICIANS & PERFORMERS: Are you interested in playing in an alternative venue like a boutique, restaurant, or café in Olde Towne Okotoks?  Are you interested in performing on the street or moving from venue to venue?  On the FIRST SATURDAY of each month Olde Towne venues would like to host you!

THE PROCESS:

   2. Sample or description of the music you play
   3. Short letter of intent – let us know what you would like to and if you have a place in mind

Okotoks Public Library

Family Gingerbread House Making: Bring your family to the library to build and decorate your own gingerbread house. Some candy will be provided for decoration, but you might want to bring some of your own too! Refreshments will be served. Limited space. Fee must be paid at time of registration. Paintworks Art Studios & Supplies

Christmas Greeting Cards in Acrylic: No

Big Rock Singers Christmas Carolers

You don't have to reserve for this, but if you want to make sure to catch them, The Big Rock Singers will start at the Okotoks Art Gallery at 12noon and will be caroling door to door at First Saturday participants in Olde Towne Okotoks from 12noon-3pm, FREE.
